Project Title: Web Scrapping Car Prices Data
Project Description:
I am trying to compare the prices of used cars sold on motorpoint.co.uk, cazoo.co.uk, and evanshalshaw.com. I need someone who can scrape the prices and other information from their websites.
The ten most popular used cars in the UK are the Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus, Vauxhall Corsa, Volkswagen Golf, Vauxhall Astra, BMW 3 Series, MINI, Volkswagen Polo, Audi A3, and BMW 1 Series. You will have to scrape data for each of these (or more if that is easy to do).
For example, if you search for Ford Fiesta on Motorpoint you get 416 cars:

Each listing has various information like model, make, milage, gearbox, price etc. It should be fairly simple to scrape all of it (within reason, I only need relevant information not things like the “compare” button or “reserve” button).
You can do the same for Cazoo: https://www.cazoo.co.uk/cars/ford/fiesta/?ownershipType=purchase&chosenPriceType=total.
However, most of the same information is not displayed on the search page. You will have to click on the actual car itself. This brings up a page with lots of details – I only need the ~10 data points you can get from Motorpoint to enable comparison.
Evans Halshaw has a lot more variety so you should filter by Stock Type – Used, Vehicle Type – Car, Age – under 5 (only if this saves you time), then on Make and Model – Ford (or other). https://www.evanshalshaw.com/search/?filter=make:ford&filter=vehicletype:car&filter=stocktype:used . You will also have to click on the actual car for the data points.
Let me know how many hours this will take. We can adjust the task to do less than 10 car models or scrape a sample if that helps. I have attached an excel with a few examples of what the data may look like.
There will then be a second and shorter phase of this project to analyze this data.
